We celebrated this guy all week with two birthday celebrations. Dinner at one of his favorite restaurants Chili's, then ending the night with a never ending game of spicy Uno! Oh my gosh, the game went on for hours. I didn't pick up the camera how I had planned to, the rest of the evening I was enjoying the moment with my family and trying to win. We are a very competitve family. But sadly, I didn't win one game. Mike did though, I'm glad he had a win on his birthday.
My parents joined us for dinner, so we had to have two tables since they have rules of how many per table now. So some of the kids got a booth to themselves. I don't think they minded one bit, I heard lots of giggling and chatting at that table.
Gabriel didn't order off of the little kid menu, he's a big guy now that's what he tells me. And had his first order of fajitas all to himself.
He doesn't like pictures but he knows I do so he tolerates it, and occasionally makes fun of me for taking so many. I'm just happy he cooperates even if he doesn't smile.
Then ending the week with another birthday dinner eating some of his favorite foods and a game of poker. I guess it's safe to say we love card games. Desiree made him a tres leche cake for dessert. I truly hope this guy knows how loved he is.
It was really a simple but sweet birthday celebration. Lots of yummy food and fun playing games.
The past two years haven't been easy for him. He has been so brave and has endured a lot of pain with so many uncertainties. I know that the journey he is on isn't one that he or any of us imagined for him. I know it's hard and scary but I hope he knows he isn't alone through it. He has God and his family walking with him. I'm praying that this year will be a better year for him and God will heal him.
Michael is so sweet, kind, gentle, funny, loving, is an artist, a great listener and gives the best hugs! And loves music, LOVES to read and video games of course.
We love you Michael to infinity and beyond!
